Black Talent is focus of Goodwill, OneTen collaboration

Thanks to the partnership between Goodwill and Google.org we have more than 100 scholarships available to motivated community members who want to advance their career or move into higher paying technology jobs.

These scholarships can be used to access training and earn credentials in several Google Career courses.

IT Support Professional

Google and Coursera have partnered to offer IT Support Professional certification. Goodwill instructors supplement the online curriculum with virtual classroom review, practice and open computer lab hours. Coursera’s learning platform offers highly interactive training to individuals who are interested in IT careers but have little or no experience.

The program builds skills in key areas: Binary Code, Customer Support, Linux, Troubleshooting, Domain Name System (DNS), Ipv4, Network Model, Powershell, Linux File Systems, Command-Line Interface, Directory Service, and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

This program also prepares you for the CompTIA A+ exams, the industry standard certification for IT—you’ll earn a dual credential when you complete both.

This program is ACE® approved—when you complete, you can earn up to 12 college credits, the equivalent of 4 associate degree-level courses.

According to the 2019 Google IT Certificate Impact Report, 80% of Google IT Support Professional Certificate learners in the U.S. reported a career impact within 6 months, such as finding a new job, getting a raise, or starting a new business.

Automation with Python

This beginner-level, six-course certificate, developed by Google, is designed to provide IT professionals with in-demand skills -- including Python, Git, and IT automation -- that can help you advance your career.

Knowing how to write code to solve problems and automate solutions is a crucial skill for anybody in IT. Python, in particular, is now the most in-demand programming language by employers. This program builds on your IT foundations to help you take your career to the next level. It’s designed to teach you how to program with Python and how to use Python to automate common system administration tasks.  You'll also learn to use Git and GitHub, troubleshoot and debug complex problems, and apply automation at scale by using configuration management and the Cloud.

This certificate can be completed in about 4 months and is designed to prepare you for a variety of roles in IT, like more advanced IT Support Specialist or Junior Systems Administrator positions. Upon completion, you can share your information with 130+ employers from an exclusive hiring consortium, like Walmart, Sprint, Hulu, Bank of America, Google (of course!), and more.

UX Web Design

User experience (UX) designers focus on the interaction that users have with products, like websites, apps, and physical objects. They make those everyday interactions useful, enjoyable, and accessible.

Over 7 courses, gain in-demand skills that will prepare you for an entry-level job. At under 10 hours per week, you can complete the certificate in less than 6 months.

You will create designs on paper and in digital design tools like Figma and Adobe XD. By the end of the certificate program, you will have a professional UX portfolio that includes three end-to-end projects, so that you’re ready to apply for jobs. Upon completion, you can directly apply for jobs with Google and over 130 U.S. employers, including Walmart, Best Buy, and Astreya.

The American Council on Education recommends a total of 10 college credits for successfully completing this course.
