Day Habilitation services provide people with disabilities the information, skills and support needed to participate in their communities. When appropriate these services wrap around community-based employment to fill gaps in a day, provide new experiences and increase social connection opportunities.
Goodwill Day Habilitation encourages participants to:
- Develop & Maintain Social Skills
- Learn Positive Behavior Management Strategies
- Engage in Activities that Promote Positive Physical & Emotional Health
- Build Important Daily Living Skills
Opportunities are provided in several meaningful activites, including gardening, art, music, volunteering and recreational/cultural experiences. Programming is tailored to each participant's expressed preferences and interests.
Participants attend on a full- or part-time basis, Monday through Friday, depending on their needs. Choice is an important part of the program schedule, which includes a combination of community-based and center-based activities.
Goodwill Day Habilitation services are available in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and the Quad Cities.
