Those impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton benefit from October Round Up donations
Our communities - not one a stranger to the devastation and uncertainty of natural disasters - hold the residents of states adversely impacted by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton in their hearts. We applaud and share their desire to support community members struggling to rebuild their lives in the wake of these storms.
Several of our sister Goodwill organizations in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee were severely impacted by these storms. The organizations suffered significant facility losses, including warehouses of donations. Some of their stores, which exist to fund their nonprofit mission services, are not expected to reopen for weeks or months to come. Goodwill team members as well as program participants have lost everything to the hurricane and are now homeless.
The Southeast Association of Goodwills set up a recovery fund to assist those most affected. For the next four weeks, Goodwill of the Heartland is earmarking all Round Up donations collected at our registers for this fund. We've also invited our team members to contribute.
When you make a purchase at any of our locations during the month of October, you will have the opportunity to round up to the nearest dollar. All money raised during the next four weeks will be contributed to hurricane recovery efforts. We appreciate this support of our extended Goodwill family and we encourage everyone here to keep everyone there in their thoughts.
