June 26, 2020Goodwill of the Heartland will temporarily close its Washington, Iowa store to both shoppers and donors effective Wednesday, July 1st.  The decision is the result of slow store sales after re-opening the location on May 11th.  All 17 Goodwill of the Heartland retail stores closed at the end of March due to safety concerns with COVID-19.  Stores were reopened in phases over the course of May and June.

Washington store employees will be offered temporary employment in other areas of retail operations with the nonprofit organization.  They will also be provided transportation assistance to those positions, which are expected to be in the Iowa City area.  The goal is to re-open the Washington location by early September.

Shoppers and donors are encouraged to visit other nearby Goodwill retail locations during the Washington store closure, including those in Iowa City, Coralville and Fairfield.  For a complete list of donation and shopping sites, please visit www.goodwillheartland.org
