Goodwill of the Heartland Offers Free Online ServSafe Food Handler Certification

August 19, 2020 – Goodwill of the Heartland is offering people the opportunity to gain an industry-recognized credential and a competitive edge in the restaurant and food service industry with its free online ServSafe Food Handler Certification.

The course will be offered via Zoom September 8th – 18th. In week one, the online classes will take place Tuesday – Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm each day. In week two, the online classes will take place Monday – Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm each day. Classes will utilize an activity and video-based approach to present, practice and apply the ServSafe content. Completion of this 18-hour training will prepare participants to successfully pass the ServSafe Food Handler exam.

Ensuring food safety is more important now than ever before as COVID-19 remains a prevalent public health issue. The ServSafe Food Handler Certification is administered by the U.S. National Restaurant Association and is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the Conference for Food Protection Standards.

Course topics include cleaning and sanitizing, controlling time and temperature, preventing cross-contamination, personal hygiene and more. Participants will also receive help with their job search skills and have the chance to do a virtual job shadow.
