Donations help create local opportunity, stability and hope
As the winter season arrives and the spirit of giving fills our homes and hearts, Goodwill of the Heartland invites you to be part of something meaningful. Your gently used donations help create real opportunities for people in our local communities who are working to build better futures.
We rely on loyal shoppers and generous donors to provide a variety of free. local programs and services. Every item you donate plays a role in supporting people as they work toward greater independence, dignity and long-term success.
Why December donations matter
Every sweater, book, household appliance or toy you donate is more than just "used stuff." It's a lifeline! Your gifts fuel programs that empower people to build brighter futures. Through your generosity, we:
- Offer no-cost job training, certifications and career support through programs like Certified for Success. We equip people in our communities for real jobs in IT, hospitality, custodial and maintenance jobs, customer service and more.
- Provide job placement and maintenance assistance, helping people secure stable employment and maintain hope.
- Support veterans, people with disabilities, and people facing work-related challenges. We offer day habilitation, supported community living and other vital services.
- Collaborate with local employers and other community partners to ensure those entering (or re-entering) the workforce have updated and required skills.
- Keep thousands of pounds of items out of local landfills, promoting sustainability while funding life-changing services.
In short: When you donate, you don't just clear out your shelves and closets. You spark hope, change lives and build community strength.
How You Can Help
- Clean out your closets, spare rooms, or garage and bring your gently used items to your local Goodwill Store. Each of our locations have convenient drive-up donation bays that are open the same hours as our stores. (Store addresses and hours are available on this website.)
- Consider donating items that families and individuals can really use this time of year, such as warm clothes, winter coats, small appliances and other household items.
- Encourage your friends, neighbors and coworkers to join in. Feel free to share this post and let them know their support truly transforms lives.
- Share the story of your local Goodwill. Remind people this isn't just about stuff, but stuff as a means to opportunity, dignity and hope.
Together, We Can Make a Bigger Impact
This December, your support is more than a holiday gesture. It's a lifelong gift. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps provide training, support and job opportunities for people in our communities.
Thank you for believing in second chances, in community, and in the power of generosity. With your help, we can turn closets into classrooms, old chairs into career seats, and old toys into new hope.
