Sustainable, Unique and Community-Focused: The Story Behind Goodwill Halloween Headquarters

Looking for a one-of-kind Halloween costume this year? Goodwill of the Heartland has you covered.

In a recent Everyday Iowa segment on KCRG-TV, Retail Project Manager Kolbi Jamison and members of the local Goodwill retail team showed how Halloween Headquarters makes it easy for everyone to find unique, sustainable costumes and accessories.

From woodland fairies to obscure characters you won't see anywhere else, Goodwill Stores offer a wide array of donated and new items to piece together your perfect spooky-season look. The team highlighted the value of the circular economy, keeping items out of local landfills while supporting people and businesses in our region.

Halloween at Goodwill is not just about shopping. It is essentially our nonprofit's largest annual fundraiser. Eighty-eight cents of every dollar flows into our Mission Services, including career centers, job placement programs and support for people with disabilities across 19 counties in Iowa and west-central Illinois.

Team members also shared practical tips. For instance, did you know Goodwill's Halloween Helpers can guide you to find all the costume pieces you need, even if those components are located in other areas of the store? With extended store hours, there is plenty of time to hunt for that perfect costume.
