Charles worked with a Goodwill job coach for many years, but as Charles became more independent, his need for job coaching diminished. In early 2014, Charles made a decision to leave the Goodwill Store and take a second community job washing dishes at Pizza Ranch. Charles did so well at the Pizza Ranch, he was offered more hours. Thanks to his increased income, he pursues his love of trains and travel.
David Alexander is a graduate of the Drug Treatment Court Program. Over the past year, David has made tremendous strides on his vocational goals. He has also been clean and sober since March of 2013. Now his dreams include finishing a degree that will allow him to become a substance abuse counselor.
Debra Calloway has overcome serious health challenges this past year by working with Goodwill’s SCL Team. She is now eating healthier and exercises by walking. Her blood pressure has decreased dramatically. Deb remains focused on her goals to improve her health and overall well-being, including educational pursuits.
Marcus had a history of failing to follow through on steps he needed to take to find work. Marcus Sells slowly made changes to reshape his life. With some encouragement, he was able to see that lighting candles along the path is far more effective than cursing the darkness. Now he is a valued employee at Home Depot.
