Goodwill of the Heartland offers a wide variety of training services geared towards finding meaningful employment. Here is a summary of our current programs:
These programs prepare the participant to gain industry recognized credentials, while earning a wage. Each certificate programs an Earn as You Learn program, consisting of classroom training and 15 hours of paid work experience in the industry. The course is 7 weeks.
Goodwill offers training developed by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute, designed to provide training that meets industry needs. We offer certification training in the following specialties:
- Front Desk Attendant
- Breakfast Server
- Guestroom Server
- Restaurant Server
- Customer Service Gold
- Customer Service and Sales
- Walgreens – training developed with Walgreens to meet the industry standards for that business. The training a Earn as you Learn program, consisting of a mix of classroom and paid training at Walgreens over an 8 week period.
- Healthcare – training developed with Hiawatha Care Center to meet the industry standards for that business. The training a Earn as you Learn program, consisting of a mix of classroom and paid training at Hiawatha Care Center over an 8 week period.

Digital Skills Training
Goodwill offers computer skills assessments as well as training in internet safety, Microsoft Programs and Google programs.
Job Readiness Training
Goodwill utilizes the World of Work and Workin’ It Out curriculums to teach participants succeed in the workplace. These trainings help participants to improve interpersonal workplace skills such as problem solving, handling conflict and accepting feedback.
