Get to Goodwill® for Unique Halloween Costumes, Incredible Value

Media Note:  We are happy to do live or recorded in-studio or in-store interviews with people in costume.

September 11th, 2018 — Looking to get ghoulish for less this Halloween season?  Then get to Goodwill.  Goodwill’s Halloween Helpers are ready to assist shoppers in creating one-of-a-kind costumes including all the accessories needed to complete the look.  Best of all, the prices aren’t frightful.

Goodwill of the Heartland’s 17 retail locations will officially open Halloween Headquarters within each store on Monday, September 17th.  While the costume possibilities are endless, some of the featured looks for 2018 include:  steampunk, rocker/biker, tourist, devil, vampire, pirate, cowboy/cowgirl, witch, zombie and many retro options spanning the decades.

Goodwill is also encouraging its customers to have fun while costume shopping by completing weekly Costume Quest missions for the chance to win Goodwill gift certificates.  Check out the Goodwill of the Heartland Facebook page beginning September 17th for details on how to participate.

Goodwill’s Vice President of Marketing Mindy Kayser said, “We want people to know that we offer amazing costumes and incredible value.  We are the destination for everything they need to put together a custom Halloween look.  It’s also fun to shop our stores because you just never know what you’ll find.”

“Best of all,” said Kayser, “When people shop Goodwill, they are making a positive impact in their local communities by creating jobs and other opportunities for people with barriers to independence.”

Kayser added that the weeks leading up to Halloween mark the largest seasonal sales opportunity of the year for the nonprofit organization.  “Goodwill really depends on strong Halloween sales to support its mission,” she said.

Goodwill of the Heartland has three retail stores in Cedar Rapids.  Other locations include Marion, Bettendorf, Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, Clinton, Geneseo, Muscatine, Iowa City, Coralville, Washington, Fairfield, Burlington and Keokuk.
