Unemployed and Underemployed
For individuals who are unemployed or don't make a sufficient living wage, Goodwill Works is a customizable program that helps these people gain valuable job-seeking training and work skills certification.
Goodwill Works is free to participants and it provides the following resources to enhance a first impression on potential employers:
- The WIN system helps determine current skill levels and prepares for the WorkKeys tests administered by Kirkwood Community College and Skills Advantage.
- Job-seeking skills classes are tailored to specific needs. Training can cover resume-building, completing applications, making phone inquiries, writing a cover letter, interviewing skills and networking.
- The computer lab located at Goodwill of the Heartland, 1441 Blairs Ferry Road NE in Cedar Rapids (by making appointment) - call Kim Harks at (319) 393-3434.
