Battling chronic absenteeism that made it difficult to keep a job, Goodwill assisted Steve address the core issues that has improved his work habits. Now Steve is both a dedicated employee and devotes time off to the care of his elderly mother.

During 2010 Steve has come to understand and execute good attendance. With his new work ethic, Steve now comes to work every day he is scheduled, and he works on his assigned tasks. In the past Steve would be asked to complete a task, and sometimes, he simply would not do it.

Steve now is a great team player and gets along well with everyone at the work site. Steve has improved his communication skills with his supervisors and co-workers. When asked to do a task, he completes the task properly, and he is always willing to help co-workers finish their tasks.

While Steve has made incredible strides in the workplace, he is also a proud grandfather who is very excited to see his grandson grow and achieve goals, just as he has in his own life.

On a daily basis, Steve experiences the continuum of life as he balances his work days while serving as a caretaker of an elderly parent. Previously, Steve saw to his mother’s living needs by taking her grocery shopping, mowing her lawn, and shoveling her snow.  Now, due to unexpected circumstances, his mother lives with him and he has assumed full responsibility for her care.

In his daily life, Steven Blake wears many hats as he meets the expectations of his employer and those dear to him. His dedication to both work and family earned Steven a spot as an award winner at Goodwill’s 2011 Achievement Awards ceremony.
