Max Emig becomes a more productive employee
In spite of physical conditions that reduced his stamina and endurance, Max Emig of Marion found work in the Goodwill Contracts Department at the Cedar Rapids Center.
Over time, Max was able to meet his goal of increasing his stamina and tolerance for work by standing at his tasks and increasing his work hours from part time. Max now spends his time on jobs that require standing or are more physically demanding.
Max has demonstrated skills and growth by knowing all but one of the contract job assignments available - and increasing his average productivity from 61.36 percent to 90.98 percent over the last year.
Max has also achieved daily productivity of over 100 percent on six different contracts with an overall average productivity of 120.29 percent on a Whirlpool riveter.
In addition to Max’s productivity, he has matured in work behaviors over the last year. Max was open minded about increasing his work hours and has matured so he does not let any frustrations ruin his day. This improvement was clearly demonstrated last year when he started a shift complaining and tired but was able to talk with staff and then turn his day around and finished the day happy and smiling with a productivity rate of 158.65 percent.
Max continues to demonstrate his personal growth and showcases his new level of maturity in work. Max is becoming a valued employee in Goodwill of the Heartland’s contracts department and is building good work habits that will serve him well in his next step out in the world of work.
In 2011, Max Emig was awarded the Goodwill Achievement Award in recognition of the great strides he has made as one of our employees.
