eugene_kraemer_150x115.jpgVeteran Eugene Kraemer gets a fresh start

Eugene came to the Moline Goodwill Store through the disadvantaged veteran’s program in the fall of 2009.  Eugene had served in the military for many years and then resigned in order to begin his civilian life and start a successful career in retail.  In his civilian life, troubles began to brew—including the loss of his marriage and then the loss of his job. In short order, Eugene lost all he had going in his life right then.

To get a fresh start, Eugene relocated to the Quad City Area, but his job search was difficult.  After making contact with the staff in the veteran’s program at Goodwill, he was placed in the Moline Store for training.

Right away Eugene felt comfortable in the environment since he had previously worked in retail.  He engaged himself in the opportunity, demonstrated a good work ethic and attendance.  Eugene participated in job fairs and job searches, worked with his counselors to create résumés and attended all required vet classes and meetings.

Retail staff at the Moline Goodwill Store saw growth in Eugene and extended a job offer in February 2010.  Eugene accepted and has been employed at the Moline Store since that time.

Eugene has worked very hard to put his life back together and has spent the last 18 months serving Goodwill, first as a client and now as a loyal and hard-working member of the Moline store team.  Eugene serves as an example of how valuable the veteran’s program is to those who really invest themselves in it.

Since his hire on February 25, 2010, Eugene learned all the job tasks in the store, has had perfect cash register operation history and has had perfect attendance. Eugene has a keen interest in shopgoodwill/e-commerce and watches the Moline store donations for items of interest and value, thereby helping the Moline store to increase its e-commerce sales.

Eugene Kraemer came to the Quad City area, looking for a new start.  He found that new beginning and a workplace family at Goodwill. The staff at Goodwill proudly presented Eugene Kraemer with a 2011 Achievement Award.
