August 7, 2017 — Heartland Goodwill Enterprises, a separate nonprofit corporation affiliated with Goodwill of the Heartland, was selected to take on a sizable contract to package vegetable oil for the USDA’s international and domestic food aid program. The contract is expected to be around $18 million annually for between 10,000 – 14,000 metric tons of oil packaged in four different container types.
July 25th, 2017 — Goodwill reminds back-to-school shoppers heading to the stores for the upcoming tax free holiday, August 4th and 5th, that shopping at area Goodwill locations is always tax free. Since Goodwill of the Heartland is a registered 501(c) 3 not-for-profit charitable organization, customers do not pay sales tax when shopping its Iowa stores.
Goodwill of the Heartland is joining forces with Medieval Times to declare Monday, June 19, “Chivalry in Action Day.” From 1 to 3 p.m., the first 25 individuals making a purchase or donation at the Rock Island Goodwill store and donation center, 4664 44th St., will receive two complimentary dinner and tournament tickets to Medieval Times in northwest suburban Chicago. This is the inaugural stop for Medieval Times knights on their multi-city Chivalry in Action Goodwill Tour.
May 4th, 2017 – Roll out the red carpet. It’s time for The Edgars! The 2017 Edgars Achievement Awards event takes place Friday evening, May 12th at the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The social hour begins at 5:30 pm followed by the dinner and awards program.
Goodwill launched the certification program last summer to prepare workers for employment in all aspects of retail. The seven-week program is open to the public and no fees are required.
