Donate to Goodwill of the Heartland

At Goodwill of the Heartland, your donations make a difference. Our mission– to advance the social and economic well-being of people who experience barriers to independence– relies on the tax-deductible donations from generous community members like you. Thank you.

Where do your donations go?

As a registered 501c3 non-profit human services organization, Goodwill of the Heartland relies mostly on the sales of used goods to fund services in our communities.

One of our main services is helping people to get jobs and keep those jobs. We have a variety of different training programs so people can develop practical work skills, and we offer job assessments, job placement assistance and job coaching, with the goal of getting our clients gainful employment in the community. We also have two career centers in our service area which offer resources helpful to all job seekers, from getting help creating a résumé to learning basic computer skills needed to complete online applications. Our Homeless Veteran’s Reintegration Program (HVRP) in the Quad Cities helps military veterans find jobs, whether in our stores or through employers in their community.

We also help people live more independently. Our Supported Community Living team help our clients with certain tasks so that they can live more independent lives. Our Day Habilitation program provides opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to participate in many different kinds of meaningful activities including gardening, art, music, volunteering and recreational and cultural experiences. For more information on our services, please click here.

Who do we serve?

Goodwill of the Heartland provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, youth facing employment challenges, refugees and immigrants with language barriers, people overcoming substance abuse and history of incarceration; those that may be unemployed or underemployed and lacking job skills and work experience for a variety of reasons.

What is our service area?

Goodwill of the Heartland serves people in Southeastern Iowa and Western Illinois. We have 17 store locations across 16 Iowa counties and 3 Illinois counties.

Where can I donate?

We have 17 store locations with drive-through drop off areas and an attendant to assist you. We also have a number of bin locations where you can donate clothing, shoes, or other soft goods at any time. View them here.  Or click here to find one of our conveniently located donation bins.

What items can you donate?

Right now, we are in the most need of household items, but we will gladly accept any and all donations of gently used items that are listed on our acceptable donations page.
