Annual Banquet
The Goodwill Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony is a night of
celebration for Goodwill family members and friends. Our 2007 event
was no exception.
When friends gathered on May 4, it was the first time they gathered
as supporters of Goodwill Industries of the Heartland since our
name had just officially changed.
Another celebration point was the fact that it was the first time
that Goodwill publicly celebrated the conclusion of its $2.74 million
capital campaign. (To date, Goodwill has raised $2,827,691, 103%
of the goal.)
As the crowd in attendance at the newly-constructed Coralville
Marriott Hotel and Convention Center could attest, Goodwill can
pack in a crowd for its big event of the season. Records show that
540 people bought tickets to attend.
A highlight to the evening was the presentation of Achievement
Awards to ten individuals for their success in the workplace. The
Achievement Awards are presented to individuals who have consistently
proven themselves as excellent workers or who have demonstrated
significant effort in improving their professional habits and work
skills through the year.

Achievement Award Recipients
Lelia Helms presented the 2007 Emily Helms Award
to Suzanne Reem of Davenport and Luvoria Sanders of Cedar Rapids.
The award is presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated
outstanding strength of character in coping with or overcoming
a significant disability, qualities that Emily Helms demonstrated
during her short life.
